Oct 26, 2012 -- 9:28am

Hayti’s mayor gets a new court date for his role in a Bootheel scam!  Seven people were charged in November 2011 by the Highway Patrol with forgery and stealing.  The investigation revealed employees within the county road and bridge department and local businesspeople were being paid with county funds.  This continued for three years after false invoices were approved by the Pemiscot County Commission.  The list of suspects includes Hayti Mayor, 39-year-old Bobby Watkins.  He was charged in March with a new count of conspiracy of theft.  Watkins will appear January 9th before Judge Stephen Sharp in Kennett.
