The Isle of Capri Cape Casino holds a ribbon cutting to open its new location

Oct 29, 2012 -- 2:41pm

Cape city and Isle of Capri Casino officials will join forces to officially open its newest location in downtown Cape this week.  The 135-million-dollar casino is slated to open to the public at 10:30 AM Tuesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.  Cape Convention and Visitors Bureau executive director Chuck Martin tells KZIM KSIM they are excited to get this going and be able to tout a new attraction for the city.  Isle held a Facebook contest and a Chaffee woman will be the first to play a slot machine.  There is no entry fee when you visit.  The casino will be open 24-7 but must close every Wednesday from 5 to 6 AM to reset its counts, according to state law.  Food for the buffet is being purchased from local producers and meat suppliers.  All restaurants will be smoke-free and the gambling areas will have sections for both smokers and non.
