Cape city and Isle of Capri Casino officials will join forces to officially open its newest location in downtown Cape this week. The 135-million-dollar casino is slated to open to the public at 10:30 AM Tuesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Cape Convention and Visitors Bureau executive director Chuck Martin tells KZIM KSIM they are excited to get this going and be able to tout a new attraction for the city. Isle held a Facebook contest and a Chaffee woman will be the first to play a slot machine. There is no entry fee when you visit. The casino will be open 24-7 but must close every Wednesday from 5 to 6 AM to reset its counts, according to state law. Food for the buffet is being purchased from local producers and meat suppliers. All restaurants will be smoke-free and the gambling areas will have sections for both smokers and non.
