Jul 13, 2012 -- 10:32am

A Charleston man already awaiting trial will now face charges for resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and assaulting law enforcement.  28-year old Jeffrey Riley has a jury trial September 14th for a 2010 charge of arson, assault and tampering with evidence.  On Monday morning just before 5 a Mississippi County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted Riley asleep in a vehicle.  When he made contact Riley began to pull away.  When officers went to pull him over he rammed their vehicle several times and sped away.  He led police on a chase before coming to a stop near the intersection of Highway 105. He then complied with police and was placed under arrest.  He is charged with assault on law enforcement, resisting arrest, tampering with evidence, possession of a controlled substance and property damage.  He is being held in Mississippi County Jail on a 500-thousand dollar bond.  He will appear before Judge T. Lynn Brown August 1st.
