Tuesday the 24th Jackson will be buzzing for the 104th anniversary of Homecomers! Chairman Larry Koehler says they block off the whole uptown area as history repeats itself in grand fashion. Homecomers began as a dedication to the courthouse and the monument of Colonel Jeffers. It is now a time to eat, dance, enjoy carnival rides and maybe even compete on the stage! He tells KZIM KSIM Tuesday Mayor Barbara Lohr will address the crown followed by the muny band and the Queen pageant… and that begins a week of entertainment. Senior idol contestants compete, followed by gospel singers and other bands with Senior Idol winners performing the top acts on Saturday night! They will be followed by the Old Santa Fe Band. you can see more at the homecomers website.Koehler says one of the most popular events is the talent competition. Contestants are divided by age with finalists performing on Friday. The American Legion is holding nightly attendance drawings for great prizes.
