There has been some rearranging at the Sikeston Department of Public Safety. The upcoming retirement of Captain Mark Crocker has created a shift of officers within the unit. Jim McMillen recently was chosen to replace him as the newest captain. He began his career with Sikeston in 1998 and has worked various positions during his tenure including most recently as the Detective Lieutenant over criminal investigations. McMillen tells KZIM-KSIM they draw on these officers’s knowledge. The city began a new idea in 1978 called “Sikeston Public Safety” and was one of the first cities to merge both police and fire into one organization. Captain Mark Crocker was one of the first three officers the city hired under the new concept. His official retirement date is December 14th.
