Two businesses destroyed during overnight fire in Dexter

Nov 30, 2012 -- 2:36pm

The cause is still unknown on what caused a major fire in downtown Dexter early Friday morning.  According to the fire department they responded to a call at the corner of North Walnut and West Stoddard Streets around 12:30 AM.  Authorities believe the fire began in the tattoo parlor, A Drop of Ink.  The fire spread into a neighboring home décor store and a flower shop received smoke damage.  No one was hurt during the blaze but a roof did collapse on some firefighters who were able to escape unharmed.  Owners of the home décor shop have stated they plan to rebuild.  The Fire Marshall stated an investigation into the fire Friday morning.
