Dec 05, 2012 -- 12:09pm

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety has announced the passing of “Officer Eros” the department K-9.  Eros began his service with the department in April 2005.  Due to complications he passed away late last month.  Officer Eros worked side by side with Officer Franklin Adams after they received over three hundred hours of training.  During his seven plus years he earned a distinguished career.  Captain Jim McMillen tells KZIM-KSIM he had quite the reputation. Along with his work on the job he was well known in the community and spent his off time at public events.  The department is looking to getting another canine in the future but note he will have big paws to fill.
