Pearl Harbor Day will be remembered in downtown Cape

Dec 06, 2012 -- 4:04pm

The Cape VFW Post 38-38 is hosting an annual event this week to commemorate Pearl Harbor Day.  All 15 districts in the local VFW area will each release a wreath at 2 PM Friday at the River at Broadway and Water Street.  Ladies Auxiliary Americanism chairwoman Judy Biester tells KZIM KSIM they organize the ceremony to remember those who lost their lives in the Hawaiian attack, December 7th, 1941.  Biester says the ceremony includes a welcome prayer, God Bless America, and comment from speaker Jeff Hiese, past commander of the VFW Post 38-38.  Representatives from as far away as Doniphan and Caruthersville will attend.  They invite all World War 2 vets and their families to experience the somber ceremony.
