Missouri House Speaker Tim Jones will be in Southeast Missouri this week on a listening and policy tour with community and business leaders. The Republican from Eureka will begin his four-day 20-city event at 8:30 this morning at Hoeckle’s Bakery in Perryville. He will next appear at My Daddy’s Cheesecake in Cape at 10:15 and then Carnell’s Collision in Sikeston at noon. Jones will end the day at Mid-Continent Steel and Wire in Poplar Bluff at 3 PM and West Plains City Hall at 6. He tells KZIM KSIM this is a way to talk with people about the priorities for the new legislative session in January. Jones says the budget projections show a better year ahead but still not at the pre-recession levels, so spending will again be frugal this spring. He invites to public to give their input at these stops this week. Jones will continue the tour in Branson and Joplin tomorrow. He was unanimously elected the Speaker of the State House in September.
