This weekend members of the Bloomfield community and surrounding areas will gather to honor veterans during the holiday season as part of the annual Wreaths Across America Day. Seven ceremonial wreaths will be placed at the Cemetery Committal Shelter Pavilion in honor of all the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who served and now rest at the Bloomfield site. This year 17-hundred wreaths will be laid on individual gravesites in southeast Missouri and 400-thousand nationwide. Bloomfield Veteran’s Cemetery Director Kenneth Swearagin tells KZIM-KSIM he was proud to see local families donate. The ceremony will be held Saturday at 11 am. It is open to the public and will consist of a moment of silence, laying of wreaths, speakers and taps being played.
