The Catholic Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau announced this week the acquisition of a 12-acre site in Springfield previously known as the Carmel of Saint Anne Monastery. Under a long-term lease, Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri will move its administrative headquarters to the new site beginning in 2013. The agency was first established in 2009. And spokeswoman Maureen Jersak tells KZIM KSIM this new building will fit their growing needs. Jersak says they will rename their location to The Saint Anne Campus of Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri in honor of the Carmelite Sisters. They cover 39 counties with a Catholic population of 68-thousand people.
