Federal resources will be available to qualifying farmers in Missouri

Jan 10, 2013 -- 1:40pm

A disaster designation by the U.S. Department of Agriculture of several Missouri counties will make area farm operators eligible for emergency loans from the Farm Service Agency and provide some relief to communities affected by the recent record setting drought.  31 counties are designated as primary disaster areas, including Dunklin County.  Counties in the adjacent disaster areas include Butler, Franklin, Jackson, Johnson, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Stoddard and 25 other counties.  Farmers in eligible counties will have eight months to apply for the loans.
