Eight additional crosswalks will be replaced with red colored concrete pavers in downtown Cape Girardeau. Crosswalks at the intersections of Spanish and Independence streets, and Main and Independence, have been added to the other nine crosswalks now being constructed. City Engineer Casey Brunke tells KZIM-KSIM they were able to add more improvements when they completed the Broadway work. Frohnebarger adjusted their order and the work began on Thursday. The project should last about six weeks, if weather permits. Intersections will remain open to at least one traffic lane. Signs will direct traffic around the construction area, and motorists are asked to use caution. Downtown businesses are open for visitors during the construction. Parking is available both on-street and in existing lots next to Broadway, Spanish, Water and Main streets.
