Multi-Cultural Week at Three Rivers College

Jan 28, 2013 -- 5:00pm

Three Rivers College is kicking off its Multi-Cultural Week celebration with a performance by Kenyan afro-rock group Jabali Afrika on Monday, Feb. 4th at 7 p.m. in the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the Poplar Bluff campus. Members of Jabali Afrika are known for their political involvement, with many of their songs referencing political struggles in Kenya and abroad.  The band also reinterprets traditional spirituals in their unique style of ethnic rock.  SGA Activities Director Derek Vaughn tells KZIM-KSIM that the week is filled with celebration.  Multi-Cultural Week is a yearly celebration sponsored by Three Rivers’ Student Government Association (SGA). Coinciding with Black History Month, the week-long celebration honors and helps spread awareness of the diversity among Three Rivers students.  For more information about the show, call the Welcome Center at 573-840-9605, or visit
