The driver of a tractor-trailer is apparently okay, escaping with only minor injuries after the truck was struck by a train. The accident happened Monday morning on Route AB just west of BioKyowa on Nash Road, southwest of Cape Girardeau. Police say the Burlington-Northern Santa Fe train struck the trailer, knocking the cab loose. The trailer was carrying corn, and was dragged for at least a quarter of a mile. The truck driver was taken to a hospital, but authorities say he did not appear to be badly hurt. Route AB was closed for several hours, and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
