The seventh annual Penguin Party Dinner and Auction, presented by the Cape Girardeau Public School Foundation, will be February 9th from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau Country Club. The not-for-profit foundation’s Executive director Amy McDonald tells KZIM-KSIM she is looking forward to this year's Penguin Party. This year's fundraising will benefit “Great Idea Teaching Grants” that district teachers apply for each year. But McDonald has worked to reach students at the Alternative Education Center as well, through a grant to the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri supporting the ‘Artist In Residency’ Program currently in progress. The Penguin Party will feature a cocktail hour and music from Cape Central High School's jazz band, dinner, plus a live auction and live music from Two Step Eddy following the dinner. This year's fundraising goal is 30-thousand dollars. Tickets for the Penguin Party Dinner and Auction are 50-dollars each or 4-hundred dollars for a table of eight, and are available by contacting the Cape Girardeau Public School Foundation at 651-0555 or email@example.com.
