A Southern Illinois University student has bonded out of jail in Jackson County Illinois after an arrest over the weekend for unlawful use of a weapon and unauthorized possession of a weapon. 21-year-old Keenan Short of Glenwood, Illinois was stopped by Carbondale police and was then arrested when a rifle was found in his car on Sunday. A media spokesman for the university says there was no threat to students and no safety alerts from campus officials were sent out and Short has been banned from campus until he faces a disciplinary hearing Friday. Investigators are not releasing any other details on his arrest. Short reportedly lives off campus. A preliminary hearing has been set for February 19 with Judge Grace.
