Retired IRS, SEMO professors and accountants can help you with your taxes, for free! The IRS has officially opened the tax filing season for 2013, and while some scramble to figure out their taxes, others are getting help for free. The American Association of Retired Persons offers tax assistance at no charge, and you do not need to be a member to use this service. Southeast Missouri AARP District 9 Coordinator Roger Riley tells KZIM-KSIM it is easy to walk in, and then walk out with a debit card or direct deposit, or even an old fashioned check for your refund. He says that they seek to help the elderly, low income and college students with this service, but all are welcome. Their tax preparer help is offered Mondays from 1 to 4pm at the Cape Girardeau Public Library, and also in locations at Jackson, Chaffee, Sikeston and Charleston. A list of locations is below:
