A Sikeston shelter is holding a Texas Hold em fundraiser to save the lives of abused women

Mark your calendars for February 9th. For the sixth year the House of Refuge in Sikeston is hosting a Texas Hold ‘em tournament to continue its services in the bootheel. Spokesperson Holly Hunter Heckemeyer tells KZIM KSIM they never want to turn anyone away from the brave choice of leaving an abusive situation…In 2012 they served 1-hundred-five victims of domestic violence just in the Sikeston area. Out of all counties in Missouri - Scott County is in the top ten for abuse cases. Heckemeyer says the tournament is being held at the Jaycees sponsor barn on the rodeo grounds. You are asked to make a donation and then commence playing Texas Hold ‘em! You could win cash prizes. Snacks are provided. You must be at least 16 to play.
