Duplex fire case of child playing with fire

Cape Girardeau fire crews responded to a fire call shortly before 7 p.m. at a small apartment duplex in Cape Girardeau Sunday, in the 2700 block of Hawthorne Road.  One room was damaged in the minor blaze, according to Assistant Fire Chief Mark Hashheider, the cause of the fire was a juvenile playing with a lighter. The fire originated in a bedroom closet, and they were able to put out the fire rather quickly.  One adult was treated for injuries at the scene after using a fire extinguisher.  No charges are pending in the case.
