U.S. Senator Roy Blunt is scheduled to meet with several government agencies next week to discuss delays in the repairs of levees in the Bootheel. The Senator took to Twitter today/Wednesday to express his plans, and says that he and Senator McCaskill are working together for Missouri. Blunt said on his twitter account “[@RoyBlunt]: The New Madrid Floodway Project has been plagued by inexcusable delays for 30+ yrs. I plan to press the Obama Admin for answers next week.” The St. Johns Bayou and New Madrid Floodway Project were put on hold in 2007 after a lawsuit was won by the Environmental Defense Fund and the National Wildlife Federation in U.S. District Court to prevent destruction of area wetlands.
