Butler County is installing more warning sirens for the safety of the community, bringing the total to 21. Emergency Management director Jeff Shawan [shawn] and his team installed one siren off of Marble Hill Road, and tells KZIM-KSIM the radius of the units is 5 miles. Shawan says they know from Joplin that 3 to 5 minute can mean the difference in lives saved. The sirens are the culmination of a 10 year, half million dollar project to reach every home and business, no matter how rural, throughout Butler County in the event of any emergency.
