The county needs to consolidate facilities, has sought out architectural firms

Feb 21, 2013 -- 6:00am

Cape Girardeau County Commissioners plan to discuss and select an architectural firm at their regular meeting Monday to evaluate Cape Girardeau County facilities and create plans for a new courthouse.  The plan is to consolidate facilities spread through the cities of Cape Girardeau and Jackson. Firms with specific expertise in helping government entities create effective court structures from Poplar Bluff, St. Louis, Carbondale and St. Joseph all submitted proposals.  They will draw up future plans and evaluate seven county buildings, including the Common Pleas Courthouse in Cape Girardeau, the Cape Girardeau County Courthouse in Jackson, the administration building, the sheriff's department and ancillary offices.
