Cape man accused of robbing a local convenience store

47-year old Patrick Rayford of Cape Girardeau is scheduled to be arraigned before Judge Syler on April 1 for aggravated felony counts of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Police say Rayford went to the Jaspers Convenience Store at 407 Morgan Oak Street and assaulted the 52-year-old female clerk by demanding money and then hitting her on the forehead with a Heineken beer bottle. He then took money from the register and fled. Rayford faces a possible life sentence on the aggravated charges.
