History Day Regional Contest Winners

Southeast Missouri State University has announced the winners in the National History Day in Missouri Region 9 contest held Friday.  Erika Woods of Risco was awarded first place in the senior individual exhibit with her entry entitled "Ella Baker." She also won a scholarship to Southeast. Beth Bangert of Greenville Junior High won the regional history award and took first place in Junior Individual exhibits for her project, “Turning on the Lights to Rural America.” Malden Schools won the Michael Murphy Sweepstakes Trophy for the most wins. The theme for History Day 2013 was “Turning Points in History: People, Ideas, Events,” and students competed advance to the state National History Day competition at the University of Missouri April 20.  For a complete list of winners, visit our website at or
