The Sikeston Humane Society has received a donation that will help them monitor their building over night. Recently more than two dozen dogs were dropped off overnight within a few days of each other. Many of the animals were neglected, hungry and even showed some signs of abuse. One of the dogs was so emaciated it could barely stand. Workers posted the problem on Facebook and one woman donated a surveillance system. Director Trace White tells KZIM-KSIM this will hopefully deter people from dropping off animals over night. The system offers a 360 view of the property and sends an email and text and when it detects motion. They’ve already caught a couple of drop-offs with the new set up. If caught they report the incident to local police.
