Quitting cigarettes is said to be harder than kicking a drug habit as nicotine is listed as the most addictive substance on the planet! An Extended smoking cessation program is being offered at St. Francis Medical Center beginning the 23rd. Program Coordinator, Mary Jane Fieser says there are ninety minute sessions for eight weeks that help even the most stubborn habits! She tells KZIM KSIM the grant from the Missouri Foundation for Health is going beyond peer support to get you over the hump. Anyone in the program has the option of using patches, gum, lozonges or auricular therapy. Which is a plus because they can return as many times as needed for a whole year. There is even funding for prescription medications if someone has to go that route. Fieser says there is a seventy-dollar deposit that is RETURNED when participants completely kick the habit! Classes run from 5:30 to 7pm in the Health and Wellness Center Conference number one. (In Fitness Plus) Call to join at 331-3006.
