Lt. Governor Peter Kinder will hold a press conference today regarding continued efforts to resolve the scandal surrounding the Department of Revenue’s retention and sharing of Missourians’ personal data. The meeting will be at 1:30 p.m., on the south steps of the Capitol.
Kinder will discuss the Senate’s ongoing investigation into the Department of Revenue and Missouri sheriffs’ involvement moving forward. Controversy began nearly two months ago around the state DOR’s illegal sharing of Missouri gun owners’ personal information and the Nixon administration’s handling of the matter. The issue was prompted by a lawsuit filed in Stoddard County and has sparked an investigation by the Senate Appropriations Committee. In Senate hearings, DOR officials confirmed the department kept a database of personal information about Missourians, including those with concealed carry permits. That information then was shared multiple times with federal officials.
