After fifty years in service to our community they must be doing something right! Plaza Tire Service is still growing and always improving its technology. President Mark Rhodes says he is very excited about their new building on south Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. Since its inception the tire store and auto maintenance business has been at the intersection of Christine and William streets. He says when CVS Pharmacy showed interest in the corner property Plaza Tire Service decided it was time to make a move – to the opposite corner of the same block! Rhodes tells KZIM KSIM his father, Vernon PEE WEE Rhodes started the flagship store in 1963. His dad has told the story many times, he had to choose between a car wash or tire store. He chose to leave the car wash industry and it looks like it worked out! That original building was in service until 1984 and the facility they are demolishing now took over until April 29th when the new location began operation! Rhodes says you can expect the same great service and an upgraded waiting area. They now operate fifty-six stores in our region.
