Offender Death at Southeast Correctional Center

The Missouri Department of Corrections Public Information Officer Mandi Steele says that on Wednesday afternoon, offender Michael Shaw, confined at the Southeast Correctional Center, was pronounced dead at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.  57-year-old Shaw was serving life without parole for 50 years for capital murder and robbery 1st degree from St. Louis County. In 1980, Shaw and another man robbed a convenience store and left, he then returned to the store and stabbed the clerk repeatedly.  He was received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on May 21, 1981.  An autopsy will be performed as part of standard procedures.
