May is Bicycle Safety Month and the Missouri State Highway Patrol encourages motorists and bicyclists to share the road. Captain Tim Hull tells KZIM KSIM that bicyclists are subject to the same rules of the road as vehicles and must keep to the right side of the road and yield to pedestrians. Hull says riders should wear a helmet because 2012 statistics show that between 70 and 80 percent of fatal bike wrecks involved head injuries and around 87 percent of those crashes resulted in death or personal injury.
