Poplar Bluff cheerleaders have been selected to perform for a bowl game next year in Jacksonville, Florida. The cheer-squad’s community service efforts got them selected to perform at the Gator Bowl Game on January 1, 2014. In November, the squads will begin choreography for the competition, which includes a performance during the half-time show of the nationally televised event. Varsity Coach Stephanie Hillis tells KZIM/KSIM they hope to bring a national title back with them. The Cheerleaders held their first fundraiser last month to help finance the trip, which is estimated to cost $35,000. Hillis says they have ten more fundraisers already planned, and will be fundraising clear up until their trip.
