Union County sends three to prison, charges vary from theft to manslaughter

Union County State’s Attorney’s office announced today/Wednesday that three individuals have been sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections:  34-year-old Valco Penn of Little Rock, Arkansas has been sentenced to three years on one count of Identity Theft. Penn is alleged to have used a credit card belonging to an Anna man to fraudulently obtain various items from Wal-Mart.  26-year-old Mason Kurtz of Mound City has been sentenced to four years and two months on one count of Aggravated Domestic Battery. Kurtz is alleged to have caused great bodily harm to a Goreville woman he was living with.  54-year-old David Olshon of Anna has been sentenced to five years on one count of Involuntary Manslaughter. Olshon is alleged to have allowed an Anna Woman to ingest heroin and buprenorphine, causing her death.
