A Cape Girardeau man whose alleged weapon of choice was a beverage container will be back in court in July. 47-year-old Patrick Rayford has a case review scheduled before Judge William Syler for July 1st. Police say Rayford went to the Jaspers Convenience Store at 407 Morgan Oak Street and assaulted the 52-year-old female clerk by demanding money and then hitting her on the forehead with a Heineken beer bottle. He then took money from the register and fled. Rayford is charged with felony first-degree robbery and felony armed criminal action, and faces a possible life sentence on the aggravated charges.
