Cancer survivors and supporters are honored tonight at Cape County Relay for Life

Jun 14, 2013 -- 7:30am

Relay for Life is tonight!  Don your purple attire in celebration at Arena Park.  It serves a dual purpose as a vehicle to raise awareness about cancer, on both a national and local level, and fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, which funds research, treatment and recovery efforts. Events include a survivor’s dinner at 6:30pm and a survivors lap at the beginning of the relay to honor those in attendance. During the luminaria ceremony at 9pm, votive candles will be lit inside personalized bags dedicated to friends and family members and placed around the walking track. There's also entertainment -- a live band, games and themed laps for participants of all ages. The Relay for Life of Cape Girardeau County will be from 6 p.m. tonight to 3 a.m. tomorrow at Arena Park. The Mr. Relay competition is at 7pm and our own Audra Caine is the emcee!  The goal of the relay is to raise $185,000.  You are still welcome sign up at the registration table tonight.
