Residents of two area counties have the opportunity to get rid of old tires at a free disposal. Both county collections come with a limit of 25 auto or pickup tires per household, with a limit of four farm-tractor tires. Solid, liquid filled, and foam tires will not be accepted, but tires on rims are allowed. Commercial business tires will not be accepted. Residents of Cape Girardeau County may dispose of tires from 7:30am to noon Saturday only at the MoDOT Highway Maintenance Office at 198 State Highway Y, near the intersection of Highways 61 and Y. The Scott County collection is open from 6am to 4pm Monday through Thursday at the Scott County Highway Department in Benton at 497 Charleston Street. The final collection will be from 8am to noon on June 29th.
