A local youth development committee holds a breakfast fundraiser this weekend

Aug 06, 2012 -- 9:56am

A local youth advocacy group called THRIVE, or Teach, Hope, Reach, Involve, Value, and Encourage, is holding a special fundraiser this weekend to help expand their outreach.  The Youth Development Committee was formed in spring 2005 in response to the Community Assessment’s determination of the top 4 priority issues, one of which was Family Issues.  Youth Development was one of five committees selected to support families in providing healthy, safe, stable and nurturing environments for school-aged kids.  Committee co-chair Shelly Wood tells KZIM KSIM they need to raise money to add an adult-based program.  Wood says they are holding a pancake fundraiser this Saturday the 11th at Beef O’Brady’s on North Kingshighway in Cape from 8 to 10:30 AM.  You can get 5-dollar tickets at the door or in advance by calling 651-3747.
