The Dexter Board of Aldermen officially put an end to the fiscal year 2013 and prepared for the new fiscal year this week. They began their special meeting by balancing the budget for the current year. The board also voted to approve the budget for the coming year. It does not reflect any major changes from 2013. At the end of FY2014, the city's cash value--of all its cash, CDs and investments--is expected to be approximately $5 million. Dexter spent approximately $200,000 in FY2013 when they performed improvements on the east Water Treatment Facility including new motors and a roof. The city has $300,000 excess receipts over disbursements for the coming year.
