There are two FREE concerts coming to the Shuck Recital Hall at the River Campus this month. Instructor at the Southeast Chamber Music Institute, Paul Thompson says they find top talent in their faculty and in area high schools to participate in a five-day program. New last year, students twelve years old and above are challenged to engage chamber music settings. He tells KZIM KSIM most have never done this before…High school students do a lot of band and orchestra playing and perhaps a lot of solo work. Chamber music sort of fills the niche in between those things. They can really work on their teamwork skills and basically the power of communication between musicians. It is really an exciting thing. The first concert is a faculty recital on Tuesday the 9th at 7:30pm. The second is at 3pm on Saturday the 13th with students joining the faculty in a wide variety of trios, quartets, and as a chamber orchestra.
