A Southeast Missouri man facing charges of second-degree murder in the death of his 1-month-old son is given two more weeks to get an attorney. 23-year-old Kade Stringfellow of Portageville is charged in the death of Karson Stringfellow. The baby was injured July 16th and flown to a St. Louis hospital, where doctors found he had a severe brain injury, four rib fractures, bleeding in the eyes and other injuries. Karson died two days later. Police say Kade gave inconsistent stories about what happened to the child. The St. Louis Children's Hospital doctor who treated Karson told police that he suspected abuse. Kade is being held at New Madrid County Jail. He appeared Thursday before Judge Charles Spittler and has a date August 23rd for a counsel status hearing.
