The 60th annual Sikeston Bootheel rodeo is bringing more than cowboys and country music the region. The added foot traffic is an economic boon for the community. Businesses are seeing new clientele and added business thanks to the rodeo bringing people in from all over the state and country. Companies are getting into the rodeo spirit as well by dressing up their buildings and employees wearing their best cowboy outfits. Sikeston Chamber of Commerce Interim Director Susan Lawrence tells KZIM-KSIM the city should take advantage of the event. All the money raised by the Jaycee’s during the rodeo is redistributed back into the community. Lawrence adds there is an estimated 8-million dollar rollover for the city. The festivities continue tonight through Saturday at the rodeo grounds.
