Cape Girardeau Police responded to a residential alarm on Thursday morning around 10am in the 400 block of South Fredrick, only the robbery that had just occurred had nothing to do with the alarm. The property owner accidentally set off the alarm in the process of servicing an AC unit for the rental home. While working, the property owner was approached by a black male who demanded his money, then pulled out a handgun and demanded his wallet. The suspect was walking away as officers arrived in response to the home alarm, and when the officer exited his vehicle—the suspect ran. They followed on foot, but he escaped. Officers then spoke with the property owner and discovered the robbery. The suspect is described as a black male, 20-30 years old, 6 feet tall, 160 lbs, wearing a black shirt and black pants.
