The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents today awarded the contract to River City Construction, LLC for construction of a River Campus expansion project. Vice President of Finance and Administration Kathy Mangels tell KZIM KSIM that River City Construction offered the best quality for the lowest bid. She says people should expect to see construction start in the next two weeks.The Board approved the project last December and the project is expected to be completed by July 2014 Six bids were received, and while the four lowest bids were within $650,000 of one another, the low bid submitted was higher than the University had budgeted for the project. The total project cost including architectural fees, construction, furniture and equipment is now estimated at $24.9 million. The expansion at the River Campus will include practice rooms, a new dining space, sectionals, a choral rehearsal room, a dance studio and a directing/acting studio.
