Cobden, Illinois is having their 76th Annual Peach Festival August 2nd and 3rd to celebrate the area's rich tradition of the sweet seasonal fruit. The festival, which is sponsored by the Cobden Lion’s Club, features family fun for all ages. Find out who will be named Peach Queen. President of the Lion’s Club Beck Simmonds tells KZIM KSIM the festival is free to attend. There will be rides for teh kinds, food, and plenty of peach cobbler and peaches and cream.The fun begins at 5pm on both nights. The Schedule is as follows:
Friday the 2nd Events
swimsuit competition at 8pm
evening gown portions at 9:15pm.
Saturday the 3rd Events
the 5K Run/Walk and 1 mile Fun Run will be Saturday morning at the Community Park. Prizes will be awarded in several categories.
"Dog Days of Summer" parade featuring floats from many organizations, businesses, groups, and more in the afternoon. If you want to be a part of the parade, they are accepting entries until just before it starts, or you can opt to sit and watch as they parade by.
From 6-9pm, Eli Tellor will play a wide array of country music. He will perform before the coronation of the 2013 Peach Festival Queen which will be at 9:15pm wrapping up the festival.
