Anti-deer hunting group Keep Cape Safe is close to getting their referendum goal. The group collected signatures during Tuesday’s primaries election and other community events. They needed 2446 signatures to put in for a referendum on the city council’s vote to allow hunting within city limits. In their most recent count they have more than 3-thousand. The group meet will meet next Thursday at the Cape Girardeau Public Library at 6:30PM to count the rest of the petitions before turning them in. They hope to put the issue before voters in the November general election.
