Aug 20, 2013 -- 6:00am

A Paducah Plant’s operators announced the closure in May, with layoffs beginning; help is ongoing for staff.  A final meeting to offer education, employment and unemployment insurance information for the first round of laid off workers at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant is scheduled for this morning at 9 a.m.   The session will be held at the Julian Carroll Convention Center in the Mississippi Ballroom.  Attendees will receive information in their search for education, employment and unemployment insurance.  160 employees were laid off at the end of last week, with another 100 expected to be let go in October.  Over 1,000 workers will be left without jobs.  The government owned uranium enrichment plant has been in operation in the area for six decades.
