Priorities Mail pickup times have changed, due to a decrease in demand

Aug 21, 2013 -- 6:00pm

Have you noticed U.S. Postal Service's first-class mail pickup times have changed to 1:30 p.m. instead of 5 p.m.? Regional Spokesperson for the USPS Richard Watkins tells KZIM has gone according to plan and he thinks that change is reasonable as the costs have gone up, but postal revenue has decreased. It has been reported that a local bank was concerned about the change inconveniencing their customers. Watkins says the banks have been instrumenetal in driving more of their customers to online banking. He said that is dedfinately a good business tactic, but they can't have it both ways. According to Watkins the USPS has seen a significant decline in first calss mail and in order to remain self sufficient, they had to make these changes. Despite complaints, Postal Service regional spokesman Richard Watkins said so far the transition has gone smoothly. This is part of the USPS’ postal reduction plan. Watkins says no jobs were lost in the transition.
