The William Street railroad crossing in Sikeston is closed…permanently. Street Superintendent Brian Dial tells KZIM-KSIM that the Burlington Northern Railroad and the City of Sikeston have made plans for the future. Dial says that the William Street crossing was the least used in the city, and now the Murray Lane crossing will gave LED lights in order to assure greater safety. He says that the project will be ongoing, and they will try to let you know quickly when any crossing will be closed for improvements. Dial encourages you to check the city’s website, Sikeston.org, regularly for alternate routes, and to use caution in the construction areas.
