Cape Girardeau Mayor Harry Rediger sent out an email late last week announcing a special press conference at City Hall today/Monday. He started promptly, as is his habit, and outlined a list of changes and improvements that the City has undergone since he took office in 2010, from the arrival of the Isle Casino Cape Girardeau to the improvements of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Mayor rounded out his talking points with an announcement: he will run again in 2014.
Many staff were in attendance, including City Manager Scott Meyer and several department heads, and applauded Rediger’s announcement. The Mayor tells KSIM-KSIM that the choice to run again was fairly easy.
The mayor acknowledged his wife, Mrs. Fran Rediger, and she was quick to say that they wondered about health and age, but both feel that they are still “full of life” and that the position has not taken over their lives in a negative way. They both said they look forward to the possibility of another 4 years in office.
