The Green Bear program which is run by the Beacon Health Center may be in danger, due to lack of funds. Executive Director of the Center Kim Williams tells KZIM KSIM the program teaches children the importance of knowing what is right and wrong when they are touched. Williams saw at this point the center has to slow down scheduling until they figure out grants and fundraising, but they have no intention of shutting the program down. The 12 year Green Bear Program could shut down at the end of October due to lack of funds, but Williams says there is still hope. The cost of running this program is $17,000 a year which is less than $2 per child. They reach about 15,000 children in the area. She says that the not-for-profit is always looking for donations from the public. For more information, you can call the Beacon Health Center at 332-1900.
